Fronto-orbital Remodeling

In some conditions the brow and frontal bone require remodeling rather than symmetric advancement. Here in a child with left unicoronal synostosis, the central bone is in an acceptable position but the bone laterally over the eye sockets requires advancement.

The removed bone is remodeled on a side table and repositioned. The brain is frequently compressed beneath the constricted lateral bone thinning it and leaving an impression of the brain surface internally. The lateral advancement of bone relives this brain compression and gives an aesthetically pleasing look to the forehead region.
